California Bound

I have never driven out West and I am planning a trip to Anaheim in March. As I look at the online maps for planning my route everywhere looks so desolate. I'm anxious to hook up with a seasoned traveler to/from TX/CA for some tips on what the driving conditions are like and any other helpful information. Looking forward to hearing from someone!
